| Roundtrip through Thailand’s Northern provinces with visit to the lively ancient city Chiang Mai and the northernmost city Chiang Rai. Discover the Golden Triangle at the borders of Laos and Myanmar and visit Asia’s 7th longest Mekong River. |

Day 1 Chiang Mai - Thaton (L)
In the morning pick up at the hotel, airport or railway station. Drive northward and visit a local elephant camp. See Asian elephants taking a bath in the river and hauling tropical wood. Trekking on the back of an elephant through the surrounding jungles and trip on a bamboo raft along the nearby river (Optional). Continue to one of the region’s rare Palong hill tribe villages. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, visit the mystic Chiang Dao Cave with its shrine and huge stalagmite formations. Visit a local rice mill and continue to Wat Thaton which is dominated by a giant Buddha image that overlooks the Mae Kok Valley and the Burmese mountain wilderness. Check in at the hotel in Thaton for overnight stay.
Day 2 Thaton – Golden Triangle – Chiang Rai (B/L)
After breakfast visit the mountain village Doi Maesalong and its local market. On the way pass Lisu, Akha and Yao villages. Drive along winding local back road to the monkey temple of Thum Pla. Lunch at a local restaurant. Drive to the border town Mae Sai. Visit the Burmese border town Tachilek (Optional). Continue to the Golden Triangle and the Mekong River. Boat trip along the sweeping river towards Chiang Sean. Stop over at the Laotian river island Don Sao. Drive to Chiang Rai for overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3 Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai (B/L)
In the morning visit the impressive Wat Rong Khun temple complex. The style of the Buddhist and Hindu temple is different from any other holy places that ca be found in Thailand. Its sacred assembly hall was designed in white color with some decoration of white glass and paintings in golden tones. Continue to a local market and a nearby hot spring. Lunch at a small restaurant. Drive to Chiang Mai. Before departure time to explore the fascinating city and its traditional colorful markets or visit the city’s temple complexes.
Optional drop of at Chiang Mai train station or Chiang Mai airport.
