| Roundtrip to Thailand’s historical sits along the way to the Northern provinces. The tour leads you from Bangkok to the ancient capital city of Ayutthaya, Phitsanulok on the banks of Nan River and the “Horse Carriage City” of Lampang. Visit Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle on the borders to Laos’s und Myanmar. See characteristic hill trip villages, dense jungles with colorful tropical plants and finally reach Thailand’s northern largest city and capital of Chiang Mai. |

Day 1 Bangkok – Ayutthaya - Phitsanulok (L)
In the early morning pick up at the hotel in Bangkok. Drive to Bang Pa-In and visit the Royal Summer Palace. Continue the tour by long tail boat towards Ayutthaya. On the way pass local communities along the banks of Chao Phraya River and see traditional wooden stilt houses. After arrival in Thailand’s old capital visit Wat Phanang Choen with its huge seated Buddha and the large Chedi of Wat Yai Chai-Mongkol. Enjoy lunch on board of a rice barge overlooking the scenic river. After lunch visit to the former Royal Palace Wat Mahathat. Drive to the historic city of Phitsanulok. After arrival check in at the hotel. Visit Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat on the banks of Nan River and see one of Thailand’s most honored Buddha figures. Visit a Buddha manufacturer and a local museum (Optional). Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2 Phitsanulok - Lampang (B/L)
After breakfast drive to the neighboring province and Thailand’s first capital city Sukhothai. Visit Sukhothai Historical Park with its impressive temple complexes, palace buildings and ancient Buddha figures. Drive to Si Satchanalai in the northernmost district of Sukhothai. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon reach Lampang. The city is situated in the Valley of Wang River. The horse drawn carriage is one of the most memorable symbols of Lampang and reflected in many traditional products. Visit a Burmese temple and a local fruit market. Afterwards, optional ride on a local horse drawn carriage. Continue to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 3 Lampang – Chiang Rai (B/L)
After breakfast visit a nearby Elephant Conservation Center and Elephant Hospital. Chance to see Asian elephants taking a bath and hauling wood. Leave Lampang and drive towards Phayao. After arrival enjoy lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the scenic Phayao Lake. Continue to the north. On the way stop over at the famous Wat Rong Khun temple. The style of the Buddhist and Hindu temple is different from any other holy places that ca be found in Thailand. Its sacred assembly hall was designed in white color with some decoration of white glass and paintings in golden tones. Finally arrive in Chiang Rai. Check in at the hotel for overnight stay. After check in time to discover the city with its colorful night bazaars and food markets.
Day 4 Chiang Rai – Golden Triangle - Thaton (B/L)
After breakfast continue northwards to the former Royal City of Chiang Saen. The province surrounding the confluence of the Mekong River with the Ruak River is called the Golden Triangle. Boat trip along the mighty Mekong. On the way along the river stop over at the Laotian river island Don Sao. Lunch at a small local restaurant. Finally reach the Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet. See a local opium museum and continue to the border town of Mae Sai. (Optional: visit the Burmese border town Tachilek). Continue through the mountains and jungles of Doi Maesalong. On the way stop at Akha, Yao and Lisu hill tribe communities and see a Kuomingtan Chinese village on top of a mountain. In the afternoon arrive in Thaton. Drive to a small hill and visit the picturesque Wat Thaton temple with its giant Buddha images and panoramic views. Drive to the hotel for check in. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 5 Thaton – Chiang Mai (B/L)
In the morning visit a remote hill tribe village which is home to Lahu people. Drive towards Chiang Dao. The province of Chiang Dao is also called “Little Tuscany” because of its local wine yards and wine productions. Enjoy trekking on the back of an elephant through dense jungles. Afterwards, boat trip on a bamboo raft along the river. Continue to a local market and visit an orchid farm near Chiang Mai. In the afternoon check in at the hotel in Chiang Mai. After check in time to discover the culturally significant city and its colorful markets.
Day 6 Chiang Mai (B/L)
After breakfast in the hotel visit the old part of the city and its ancient temple complex. Afterwards, drive to Doi Suthep Mountain and enjoy the panoramic view from this sacred place overlooking Chiang Mai and the surrounding province. Continue to the banks of Ping River and visit the former Mon city of Wiang Kum Kam. Lunch at a small restaurant. After lunch drive to the village of Bo Sang in the outskirts of Chiang Mai. The village is famous for its handmade umbrellas and brightly colored parasols. Time to see certain local handicraft factories and decorated craft shops. In the afternoon return to Chiang Mai for overnight stay at the hotel. In the evening local style Kantoke Dinner with traditional dance show.
Day 7 Chiang Mai (B)
After breakfast in the hotel, optional drop of at Chiang Mai train station or Chiang Mai airport.
