Private roundtrip from Bangkok to the Kingdom’s unseen western provinces and the country’s second largest city Chiang Mai. Visit the ancient capital city Ayutthaya on the banks of Chao Phraya River and travel to Thailand’s western provinces along the Burmese border passing mountain ranges, rivers, local hill tribe communities and colorful markets. Continue to the country’s highest mountains and remote National Parks. Finally reach the city of Chiang Mai located on the country’s ancient trade routs.

Day 1 Bangkok – Ayutthaya - Phitsanulok (L)
In the early morning pick up at the hotel in Bangkok. Drive to Bang Pa-In and visit the Royal Summer Palace. Continue the tour by long tail boat towards Ayutthaya. On the way pass local communities along the banks of Chao Phraya River and see traditional wooden stilt houses. After arrival in Thailand’s old capital visit Wat Phanang Choen with its huge seated Buddha and the large Chedi of Wat Yai Chai-Mongkol. Enjoy lunch on board of a rice barge overlooking the scenic river. After lunch visit to the former Royal Palace Wat Mahathat. Drive to the historic city of Phitsanoluk. After arrival check in at the hotel. Visit Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat on the banks of Nan River and see one of Thailand’s most honored Buddha images. Visit a Buddha manufactory and a local museum (Optional). Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2 Phitsanulok – Sukhothai - Mae Sot (B/L)

After breakfast drive to the neighboring province and Thailand’s first capital city Sukhothai. Visit Sukhothai Historical Park with its impressive temple complexes, palace buildings and ancient Buddha’s. Continue to Tak province. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch drive towards the Burmese border passing mountain ranges and small local communities. Finally reach the border town of Mae Sot. The town is notable as a trade hub and for its substantial residents of Burmese refugees. Time to discover the local market and the traditional trading along Moei River. Afterwards, visit Wat Thai Wattanaram with its giant 45 meter reclining Buddha statue. Drive to the hotel in Mae Sot for overnight stay.

Day 3 Mae Sot – Mae Sariang (B/L)

After breakfast in the hotel visit one of Thailand’s most colorful markets where Thai, Burmese, Chinese, Indians and Karen people are trading a variety of vegetables, fruits and handicrafts. Afterwards, leave Mae Sot and drive northwards towards Mae Sariang. The back road partly leads along the serene Moei River and through mountains covered with dry evergreen forests. On the way stop over to see Karen villages and the Mae Usu Cave with its impressive stalactites and stalagmites. Visit a local refugee camp (Optional). Continue to Mae Ngao National Park and enjoy a tranquil trip on a bamboo raft along the crystal clear waters of Mae Ngao River passing flowering plants and dense tropical jungles. In the late afternoon arrive at the small town of Mae Sariang on the banks of Yuam River. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4 Mae Sariang – Chiang Mai (B/L)

After breakfast drive to Mae Chaem village on the foot of Doi Inthanon National Park. The park consists of high mountains, areas covered with moist evergreen forests and colorful tropical plants such as orchids and rhododendron. Because of its specific local climate the National Park inhabits the country’s largest number of bird species. On the way to the park stop over at local hot spring. Continue to the peak of Thailand’s highest mountain with an altitude of 2.565 meters. Time to visit the Royal Pagodas and discover the surrounding dense forests of Doi Inthanon Mountain. Afterwards, visit nearby scenic waterfalls and see a local Hmong hill tribe village and its Royal Farming Project. Finally drive towards the Kingdom’s second largest city of Chiang Mai. After arrival check in at the city hotel for overnight stay.

Day 5 Chiang Mai (B)

After breakfast in the hotel, optional drop of at Chiang Mai train station or Chiang Mai airport.
