| A real travelers tip for people wanting to experience Thailand of the beaten track and see parts of the country side and experience the local way of life which seems unchanged throughout the centuries. This fascination tour along the rivers and through the national parks of central Thailand begins with a visit to Kanchanaburi, the Kwai River and the Erawan national park west of Bangkok and continues to the ancient capital of Ayutthaya on the banks of the Chao Praya River. From here the tour follows the river upstream to the little visited but captivating and tranquil province of Uthai Thani with its rice fields and orchards on Koh Thepto Island. Finally visit the Khao Yai national park on the north eastern edge of the central Thailand plain. The park and wildlife preserve with its dense jungles and high mountains is still home to a wide variety of exotic animals among them wild elephant herds and tigers. |

Day 1 Bangkok – Kanchanaburi (L/D)
In the early morning pick up at the hotel in Bangkok and drive westwards along the gulf coast. Stop at the salt fields in Samut Sakhon Province. Afterwards visit the floating markets. Explore the colorful market and see the traditional way of trading wares along a labyrinth of narrow water canals. Lunch at a local restaurant. Visit Erawan National Park and the impressive seven tier high waterfall. Explore the waterfall’s many levels and limestone rocks or swim in the natural pools filled with crystal clear waters. Afterwards, drive to the Hellfire Pass. The pass and its railway were built by allied prisoners and Asian workers during the Second World War and used as a supply route between Thailand and the Japanese front in Burma. The Hellfire Memorial Museum provides detailed information and is starting point to explore the cutting places of the pass. Continue the tour by long tail boat along the Kwai River to the hotel. Overnight at a floating hotel surrounded by dense jungles. After arrival time at your leisure to enjoy the surrounding nature and explore a local Mon Village next to the floating lodges. Swimming and canoeing (optional). After Dinner watch the traditional Mon dances.

Day 2 Kanchanaburi (B/D)
After breakfast time visit the local Mon community near the resort chance to feed some elephants and visit the community’s temple in the forest. Afterwards, enjoy a trip by bamboo raft downstream. Check in at the Hotel. In the early afternoon visit Sai Yok National Park and waterfall. Return to the hotel and explore the surrounding country side by mountain bike (optional) and visit the nearby Lava cave.
Day 3 Kanchanaburi - Uthai Thani (B/D)
After breakfast return by boat downstream to the waiting car. Drive to a nearby elephant camp. Enjoy trekking on the back of an elephant surrounded by the picturesque panorama of the mountains and the banks of the River Kwai. Afterwards, drive to Namtok train station and journey by train along the famous death railway back to Kanchanaburi town. After arrival visit the historical bridge over the River Kwai. Lunch at a riverside restaurant. Drive to Singburi. Visit a local temple whose surrounding trees are home to a large population of giant bats. Continue to Uthai Thani province. Visit the old city center and local market along the Skae Krang River. Cruise along the river in an old rice barge. Discover the river and the traditional way of life which seems almost unchanged throughout the centuries. Locals still live on small bamboo rafts with floating gardens and fish farms. Drive to the resort situated on a manmade island between the Skae Krang and Chao Praya rivers. Check in and Dinner overlooking the river.
Day 4 Uthai Thani (B/D)
After breakfast visit Wat Ta Sung Crystal Temple. The temple is one of Thailand’s larges meditation centers for monks and lay people and features a huge meditation hall and a main temple whose interior walls and ceiling is completely covered with mirrors. Afterwards drive along small scenic country roads to Hup Pahtaad Valley. The valley is completely enclosed by steep rocky cliffs and can only be accessed through a cave leading into it from the outside. The valley was accidentally discovered by a monk who was exploring the area in search for a place to meditate. When exiting the tunnel leading to the cave the visitor is stunned to find huge palm and tropical trees which seem to have evolved independently from the surrounding areas and give the impression of a prehistoric landscape. Drive back to Uthai Thani town and visit a small temple on a mountain overlooking the city, the rivers and surrounding farmlands. Drive back to the hotel. Walk or cycle (optional) along the banks of the Chao Phraya and Skea Krang River on Koh Thepto Island. Visit local joss stick makers, farmers, and basket and bamboo weavers. Return to the resort for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 Uthai Thani – Lopburi – Khao Yai (B/L)
After breakfast in the hotel drive to Lopburi. Stop over at an ancient Khmer temple in the cities center. The temple is home to hundreds of small monkeys. Continue to Khao Yai National Park. Drive up a scenic road into the main park. Stop over at a viewpoint overlooking the surrounding valleys and local communities. Continue to the National Park’s visitor center. Short trek along a scenic small river surrounded by the dense tropical vegetation. A local ranger will point out many of the small and larger animals inhabiting the area. Chance to see some Great Hornbill birds, geckos, spiders and Gibbons. On the way you will pass the Orchid Cliff Waterfall bounded by a large number of wild orchids. Lunch at a small local restaurant in the park. Visit Haew Suwat Waterfall. Drive and short walk to the 1.200m high Pha Deaw Dai view point. Enjoy the panoramic view from the top of the steep cliffs overlooking nearby valleys and mountain ranges covered with evergreen forest. In the afternoon visit a wildlife watchtower (Optional). Drive to the resort and check in. In the late afternoon visit a nearby bat cave to see millions of bats leaving their cave every evening before sunset and flying towards the National Park. Return to the resort and overnight stay.
Day 6 Khao Yai (B/L)
After breakfast in the resort drive to the nearby National Park. Trek through the unspoiled jungle guided by a local ranger. Arrive at Pong Ta Long Waterfall with its 30 m high steep cliffs and enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking the jungles of Khao Yai. After lunch walk upstream along a small river to a second waterfall hidden in the jungle. Time to swim and enjoy the tranquil and serene environment. Afterwards, trek to the point of departure and drive back to the resort. In the late afternoon visit a watchtower on the edge of the National Park. Chance to see wild buffalos who emerge from the park in the evening to graze in the glades. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.
Day 7 Khao Yai – Bangkok (B/L)
After breakfast at the resort discover the surrounding area and small villages. Visit a small nearby cave temple and its small herbal sauna which is operated by the monks for the villagers. Visit a local market or a natural pool. Optional: Time at your leisure at the resort until departure.
After lunch return to Bangkok airport or hotel.
