Drive to the elephant camp. Enjoy an interesting performance, done by the elephants. Elephant trek through the forest. Drive to Chiang Dao. Lunch at a local restaurant. Explore the Chiang Dao cave. Drive towards Thaton. Visit the mountain temple Wat Thaton. Drive onwards to Chiang Rai and check in at the hotel. Explore the night market.
Visit Wat Rong Khun, also called “White Temple”. Scenic drive to Doi Tung Mountain. Visit the Mae Fah Luang Garden. Continue to Chiang Saen. Boat trip along the Mekong River. Lunch at a local restaurant. Explore the Golden Triangle. Afterwards visit the Opium Museum. Transfer to the hotel in Chiang Khong for check in.
Transfer to the Laotian border town Huay Xay. Board the river boat. During the cruise enjoy the beautiful scenery. Buffet lunch on the boat. Late afternoon arrival in Pakbeng. Check in at the hotel. Dinner on the terrace with view over the Mekong.
Visit the morning market. Transfer to the boat and cruise towards Luang Prabang. Stop at a Hmong settlement. Afterwards buffet lunch on the boat. Stop at the Pak Ou caves, containing thousands of Buddha statues. Another stop is at a village known for the production of rice wine. Late afternoon arrival at Luang Prabang. Transfer to the hotel with check-in.
Visit the Royal Palace Museum. Afterwards visit the temples of Wat Xiengthong, Wat Mai and Wat Visoun. Early afternoon explore the Arts and Ethnology Centre. Then visit Ban Xangkhong and Ban Xienglek, known for their superb textile-weaving products. Late afternoon visit Mt. Phousi for a spectacular sunset. Transfer back to the hotel.
Drive to the silk weaving center Ock Pop Tock. On the way to the Kuang Si Waterfall is an option to visit the villages of the Khmu, Hmong and Lao Loum ethnic groups. Relax and swim in the clear pool at the waterfall or walk along the jungle trails. On the way back to the hotel visit the Bear Rescue Centre. The afternoon is at your leisure.
Drive on scenic mountain roads direction south. Stop at viewpoints. Visit the Khmu village Ban Kiu Kam Pone. Stop at Phou Phueng Fa viewpoint. Visit the Hmong settlement Ban Hin Ngon. Explore the market at Koe Kuang. Stop at Phatang Mountain, another fantastic vantage point. Continue to Vang Vieng. Check in at the hotel.
Explore Tham Jang cave. Drive southwards to Tha Heua, known for its dried river fish. Continue to the picturesque Nam Ngum lake. Afterwards visit the salt mine at Ban Keun. Visit the lively market at Don Makei. Transfer to Vientiane. Check in at the hotel.
Visit the temples of Wat Sisaket and Wat Prakeo. Continue to the Patuxai Monument, known as the Arc de Triumph of Vientiane. Afterwards admire That Luang Stupa, the national symbol of Laos. Visit COPE exhibition center. In the early afternoon visit the Buddha Park. On the way back to the hotel stop for a fantastic sunset over the Mekong River.
